The first six missions have 14 POWs while the Final Mission has 16 POWs to rescue. Moves in bold represent a character's Special Action done by pressing Up + Special + Primary Fire. The game has the same set of characters from Metal Slug 6 with the same abilities as its predecessor. Auto fire is available it is off by default. The X Button, while not used by default, can have an action applied to it. Specific moves that require button combinations can be set to a singular button. Controls īelow are the default controls for the game. The game also introduces the Prisoner's List menu and the return of the Combat School mode which was originally featured in the console versions of Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2/ X, and Metal Slug 6. Metal Slug 7 uses the Nintendo DS touchscreen as a map of the level, making it easier for the player to look at it and know where to get power ups or captured prisoners. Marco and Tarma are given additional special moves. Returning from Metal Slug 6 is the different player characteristics, Rush Blaster System, and Weapon Stock.

Rosa specializes in long-range attacks, tossing bombs from her pack. Viola specializes in army protection and melee attacks. Rosa was able to hack into a Dai-Manji, while Bubu was able to hack into one of the Professor's old modified Ring Laser Mechas. White Baby is quite fond of her creations, and they too also specialize in hacking machinery. They then engage a Metal Slug Attack to the nearest enemy.ĭue to the popularity and strength of the Valerian Bears, the Amadeus Syndicate has experimented with implanting their AIs onto other machines, such as Shoe & Karn and their Space Tank. When their health is depleted, the hologram projector goes haywire, and the bears overgrow to the point of their fluff spewing over their flesh.
The bears have their own personality: Viola is the smartest, Rosa is the girliest, and Bubu is the most aggressive. By using a special hologram, a normal teddy bear is grown to a bipedal monster, larger than the average human and bear. The Valerian Bears are weapons created by White Baby.
